How to Share E-books on Kindle with Family Members

Do you love reading ebooks on your Kindle device or app? Do you have family members who also enjoy reading e-books? If you answered yes to both questions, then you might be interested in learning how to share ebooks on Kindle with your family members. Sharing e-books on Kindle is a great way to expand your and your family’s libraries, save money, and discover new books. In this blog post, I will show you two ways to share e-books on Kindle with family members: using Amazon Household and Family Library, or lending a book to another person.

Using Amazon Household and Family Library

Amazon Household and Family Library is a feature that allows you to create a Family Library with up to two adults and four children, each with their own Amazon account. You can share ebooks and other content with your whole family by selecting the books you want to add to the Family Library.

To set up an Amazon Household and Family Library, you need to follow these steps:

  • Go to Amazon Household and select Add Adult to create a Household with another adult. You can also add a teen or a child to your Household if you want.
  • Enter the name and email address of the adult you want to add to your Household and invite them via email, or sign up together on the same device.
  • Review and agree to the payment sharing and content sharing settings. Make sure digital book content is selected for sharing.
  • Go to Manage Your Content and Devices and select the Content tab. Click on Show Family Library and check the box next to the books you want to share. Then, click on Add to Library and choose the profiles you want to share the books with.

That’s it! Now you and your family members can access the shared ebooks on your Kindle devices or apps. You can also manage your shared content and remove books from the Family Library at any time.

Lending a Book to Another Person

Another way to share ebooks on Kindle with family members is to loan a book you have purchased to another person for a period of 14 days. However, this feature is not available for all books, and you can only lend one book at a time. To lend a book, you need to follow these steps:

  • Go to Manage Your Content and Devices and select the Content tab. Click on the Actions button for the book you want to share and select Loan this title. If this option does not appear, then the book is not eligible for lending.
  • Enter the email address of the person you want to loan the book to. You can also add a message if you want.
  • Click on Send now. The person will receive an email notification with a link to accept the loan.

The person will have seven days to accept the loan, and then 14 days to read the book. During this period, you will not be able to read the book yourself. Once the loan expires, the book will be returned to your library automatically.

Conclusion

Sharing ebooks on Kindle with family members is a simple and convenient way to enjoy reading together. Whether you use Amazon Household and Family Library or lend a book to another person, you can share your ebooks with your family members and discover new books. Happy reading!

Live in the Present

In the movie Siddhartha based on the novel by Hermann Hesse and directed by Conrad Rooks, Siddhartha is rowing in the river accompanied by his Guru who is an old man. He tells Siddhartha that the river is at all the places at the same time. It is at its sources, it is in the ocean, it is on its way to ocean simultaneously. It lives in the present. We humans suffer because we chase the time which is impossible. Time is unaffected by anything. It is nonchalant. It neither hates nor loves anything. Things are born and dying but it does not care. It always flows, unrepentant and unbridled.

Calcutta Chromosome

Recently my reading capacity has dwindled quite a lot. Though in normal circumstances, I don’t read the books in one go. I can’t. For me it is not possible. I am the one who don’t swallow big chunks without properly chewing. I read about 10 pages at the maximum in one sitting.

But, it was different with Amitav Ghosh‘s novel “Calcutta Chromosome“. I purchased it few days back and was occasionally reading two three pages at the time of going to bed. Generally I read in leisure lying down in the bed and many a times very powerful but brief sleep overtakes me. It lasts about ten to fifteen minutes but it is like becoming dead.

But, on Saturday, I was having a bad time and picked up the book to while away some time. But as I was reading, I got hooked up to the story. It so happened that by the end of the day, I had read the entire book which though is not a thick volume. It was so thrilling and full of suspense. The characters were crafted brilliantly and spooky happenings were just like addiction to the mind. It was always expecting more and more.

I have become a fan of Amitav Ghosh. A few months back, I read an article by him regarding the religious fanaticism in India. Though it was titled like this but actually it was about Babur and his adventurous life. It was about how the circumstances forced him towards India though he did not want to and tried his luck towards west. He was utterly defeated and many a times escaped the death and everything fell into his line in Afghanistan. Babur used to drink a lot and was a liberal. Mr.Ghosh wanted to drive home the point that in this democratic country man of us have become more intolerant of other religion than our own.
